Home is a Holy Place

The following three talks comprise this years ROOTS program. The goals of the program are to: affirm the role of parents as the primary educators of their children; explore opportunities for Catholic school councils to enhance the Catholic identity of their schools; encourage each other to live out and celebrate our faith; work together in service to the Catholic school community; and share in the mission and vision of Catholic education.

David Wells

David Wells is married with three children and lives in Devon, England. He was, for 7 years, a senior high school teacher where he taught Religious Education and then spent two years as a Research Assistant for the Catholic Education Service in London. He spent 6 years as Adult Religious Education Adviser for the Nottingham Diocese before coming to Plymouth Diocese where he is currently Co-Director of the Department for Forma-tion. He is currently a member of the Bishops Conference Committee for Catechesis and Adult Religious Education. He is an increasingly renowned speaker and has presented seminars in many parts of the world, including USA, Canada and Eastern Europe as well as throughout the UK. For the past 7 years he has been a popular speaker at the LA Congress. He has also developed learning programmes for parents, including You, your children and their Catholic faith, produced by the Catholic Education Service, which is available on video. His role in the Diocese is to encourage more opportunities for adults to gather together and to continue to learn about their faith, which he describes as a daunting challenge and a wonderful opportunity. The important loves of his life are his family, football and food!
